Your files stay on your Mac

Berkas reads and changes files only on your Mac, and only when you ask it to. It never uploads your files, file names, folder structure or search queries anywhere.

No accounts, analytics or tracking

Berkas has no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting that sends data to us.

Purchases and licenses

When you buy Berkas we store your email address, your name if you give it, the order amount and its payment status, so we can deliver and restore your license. Payments are processed by Midtrans; we never see or store card numbers.

When you activate Berkas, it sends your license key, the name of your Mac (as set in System Settings › General › Sharing), the Berkas version, and a one-way hash of your Mac's hardware identifier. The hash lets us keep one license on one Mac without learning the identifier itself. Every few days Berkas checks with the server that the license is still active on this Mac.

You can see which Mac holds your license on the license page. To have your purchase data deleted, contact support.

Update check

Once a day Berkas downloads a small file from appsformac.rendyj.id to see whether a new version exists. That request includes the Berkas version number and, like any web request, your IP address. It is used only to answer the request. You can turn this off in Berkas › Settings › Updates.

Permissions

macOS may ask you to let Berkas access folders such as Desktop, Documents and Downloads, external drives, or to control Finder (for “Show in Finder” and emptying the Trash). Full Disk Access is optional. These permissions only let Berkas work with your files on your Mac.
